2014 year-end stats for Orlando International Airport international traffic hits new record high

The books are closed on 2014 and once again international traffic at Orlando International Airport (MCO) reached an all-time record high. Over 4.3 million international guests traveled through MCO, an increase of 9.6 percent, or more than 378 thousand additional international travelers over 2013’s previous record. The new record indicates that international traffic now accounts for approximately 12.3 percent of all traffic at Orlando International.

“While we’re thrilled about the new international traffic record, we’re also excited to see that domestic passenger traffic was also up in 2014,” says Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “The nearly 2 percent increase in domestic travel is a direct reflection of our growing Central Florida economy.”

Domestic passenger traffic in 2014 also showed an increase of 1.8 percent. Overall combined domestic and international traffic at MCO was up 2.7 percent for the year.

2014 Year-end Statistics Summary

  • International traffic increased by 9.6 percent with 4,324,175 passengers at MCO, which is a new record
  • Domestic traffic increased by 1.8 percent with a total of 31,390,437 travelers at Orlando International for the year
  • Combined overall traffic edged upward by 2.7 percent with a total of 35,714,612 travelers at Orlando International in 2014
  • Aircraft operations at Orlando Executive Airport also increased in 2014, up 3.2 percent to109,396

December Traffic Summary

  • Overall traffic climbed 5.38 percent in December with 3,195,195 passengers total
  • International traffic was up 13.18 percent with 390,425 international arrivals and departures
  • Domestic passenger traffic was also up over 4.38 percent with 2,804,944 travelers in December

Orlando International Airport is the second busiest airport in Florida and offers more domestic non-stop service than any other airport in
the state. MCO is positioned within two hours driving distance for 50 percent of the state’s population.
