The Board of Directors of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) has selected Todd Hauptli to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of the 5,000-plus member organization. Hauptli will become President and CEO effective December 1, 2013, following the retirement of Chip Barclay, who has served as staff leader of AAAE for 30 years.

“AAAE has a rich history of remarkable leadership that is certain to continue with the selection of Todd Hauptli to serve as our organization’s next President and CEO,” said AAAE Chair Mark Brewer, A.A.E., Airport Director at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. “Todd has a demonstrated record of success in service to our membership, a sterling reputation in Washington, and a clear, well developed vision for navigating AAAE through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, including the need to enhance coordination and cooperation within the airport community.”

Hauptli joined AAAE in January of 1991 as Vice President of Federal Affairs and over the years was promoted to Senior Vice President of Federal Affairs, Senior Executive Vice President and President of AAAE Gov. Prior to his career at AAAE, Hauptli worked on Capitol Hill; for three United States Cabinet Secretaries; and on the White House staff of President Ronald Reagan.

“Todd is an exceptional talent who has played a critical role over the past two decades in helping to grow AAAE, enhance its effectiveness in Washington and drive the innovation that sets it apart from other organizations,” Chip Barclay said.

On his selection, Hauptli commented, “I am incredibly grateful to the AAAE leadership and members for the trust they have placed in me. I am absolutely committed to building upon the strong foundation of service, representation and innovation that long have been the hallmarks of AAAE.”
