Parsons Brinckerhoff to perform a preparatory study to examine the possibilities for redevelopment of the VVCA…

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has awarded a contract to Parsons Brinckerhoff to perform a preparatory study to examine the possibilities for redevelopment of the Chu Lai International Airport (VVCA), located near Da Nang, Vietnam.

Chu Lai International Airport opened to commercial traffic in 2005. In 2010, the airport handled 40,000 passengers with 8-12 flights a day.

Funded by a U.S. Trade and Development Agency grant, the study will analyze the potential for the Chu Lai International Airport to transform from a small regional airport into a prominent regional cargo hub to serve emerging industrial areas, and become a much more significant commercial facility. The study will provide analysis to update the current master plan, determine how to integrate cargo into its operation, and evaluate private sector investment opportunity for the airport’s future development. The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam has a goal for the airport to reach four million passengers and five million tons of cargo by 2025.
