The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) has again been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2009 comprehensive annual financial report, or CAFR. The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is a national award, recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government financial reports.

“One of the MNAA’s core values is to be enterprising. Our CAFR underscores our commitment to have an entrepreneurial mindset that emphasizes innovation and financial efficiency while delivering the Nashville Airports Experience to passengers and partners,” said Raul Regalado, president and CEO of the MNAA.

The MNAA is a multi-year winner of this award, having received it 11 years, including the past nine consecutive years.

A copy of the MNAA’s 2009 CAFR is available online at http://flynashville.com/about/pdfs/CAFR09web.pdf.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government entity must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report, whose contents conform to program standards. Such reports must satisfy both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable legal requirements.

The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which include demonstrating a constructive “spirit of disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Ill., and Washington, D.C.
