Dublin Airport (DUB) has achieved Level 4+ within the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme, marking a major milestone in the airport’s sustainability strategy.

The accreditation, awarded by Airports Council International, places Dublin Airport among the top 13 per cent of airports globally for carbon management performance.

Dublin Airport achieves major carbon accreditation milestone

Airport Carbon Accreditation is recognised internationally as the aviation industry’s standard for airport carbon management and emissions reduction.

According to Dublin Airport operator daa, achieving Level 4+ demonstrates long term progress in measuring, managing and reducing airport carbon emissions in line with recognised climate science.

The airport stated that the accreditation reflects improvements across energy efficiency, operational emissions reductions and collaboration with airlines, ground handlers and airport partners.

The Level 4+ certification also confirms that Dublin Airport has established long term absolute emissions reduction targets supported by delivery plans and transparent reporting frameworks.

daa said the achievement aligns with its wider environmental, social and governance strategy alongside broader commitments to climate action and sustainable airport operations.

The airport operator is targeting net zero carbon emissions across its own operations by 2050 while aiming for significant emissions reductions by 2030.

Investment programmes supporting the strategy include electrification projects, renewable energy initiatives, energy efficiency improvements and deployment of low carbon technologies across airport infrastructure.

Andrea Carroll said the accreditation reflects years of work across airport teams and operational partners while reinforcing Dublin Airport’s commitment to responsible growth and climate action.

By achieving Level 4+, Dublin Airport joins a growing group of international airports recognised for advanced approaches to decarbonisation and carbon management.
