Long Thanh International Airport (LTIA) is advancing its position as a major regional cargo hub with the development of Cargo Terminal No.1, a purpose built facility designed to support large scale air freight growth across South East Asia. The terminal forms a key component of Vietnam’s most significant aviation infrastructure project and is expected to be operational alongside the airport’s opening in late 2026.
Funded by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, Long Thanh International Airport is set to become the largest airport in the country, strengthening Vietnam’s international connectivity and logistics capabilities. As part of the wider airport development, Cargo Terminal No.1 will provide modern infrastructure and technology to support efficient, high volume cargo handling from the outset.
Following a competitive tender process, Aviation Products and Maintenance Joint-stock Company was appointed to deliver technology and systems for the new cargo terminal. The company has selected Hermes Logistics Technologies as its cargo software partner, expanding the digital backbone of the airport’s future cargo operations.
Hermes Logistics Technologies will deliver a full ecosystem of cloud based, software as a service cargo systems to support core operations across the terminal. These systems will provide real time visibility and data driven decision making, enabling efficient coordination between airlines, ground handlers and cargo partners as volumes scale. Capabilities will include track and trace functionality, business intelligence tools, API integrations, landside management and a learning management system to support workforce training and operational readiness.
The integration of digital cargo systems at an early stage of the airport’s development is intended to ensure Cargo Terminal No.1 is future ready, resilient and capable of adapting to changing market demands. By embedding advanced technology into the terminal’s design, Long Thanh International Airport aims to optimise cargo throughput, reduce manual processes and enhance overall operational efficiency.
Cargo Terminal No.1 also reflects the airport’s broader ambition to establish itself as a key logistics gateway for the region, supporting Vietnam’s economic growth and trade connectivity. As cargo volumes across South East Asia continue to rise, the new terminal is expected to play a central role in positioning Long Thanh International Airport as a competitive, technology enabled cargo hub.
With construction progressing and systems partnerships now in place, Cargo Terminal No.1 represents a critical milestone in the delivery of Long Thanh International Airport and its long term cargo strategy.
