UrbanV and Japan Airport Consultants have formed a long-term partnership to support advanced air mobility development in Japan.

UrbanV and Japan Airport Consultants (JAC) have signed a long-term cooperation agreement aimed at supporting the development of advanced air mobility (AAM) infrastructure and services across Japan.
The partnership will focus on planning, design, regulatory integration and commercialisation activities, combining UrbanV’s international vertiport expertise with JAC’s extensive experience in airport planning and aviation infrastructure development.
Partnership targets advanced air mobility growth
The first project under the agreement will centre on the Tokyo Metropolitan Area, where UrbanV will serve as a strategic technical partner to JAC within a consortium led by Japan Airlines. The consortium also includes Archer Aviation and other aviation industry stakeholders.
The initiative is intended to support the structured introduction of advanced air mobility services in one of the world’s most densely populated and operationally complex urban regions.
The agreement establishes a framework for future research and development activities, consulting projects and knowledge-sharing initiatives designed to support long-term market growth.
JAC will contribute its expertise in airport development, aviation planning and regulatory engagement, while UrbanV will provide international benchmarking and experience gained from advanced air mobility projects in other markets.
The collaboration also aims to align Japanese AAM developments with emerging international regulatory standards and operational frameworks established by organisations including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, the Federal Aviation Administration and the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
Ivan Bassato said: “Japan is globally recognised for its leadership in technology and innovation. We are honoured to enter this market through a solid and long-term partnership with Japan Airport Consultants.”
JAC representatives said the partnership will support efforts to develop safe, sustainable and socially accepted advanced air mobility ecosystems while helping prepare Japan’s aviation sector for future urban air transport operations.
