Santiago Airport will introduce five new domestic lounges operated by Plaza Premium Group to enhance passenger comfort and hospitality.
Santiago Airport (SCL) is set to expand its premium passenger offering with the construction of five new lounges in its domestic terminal, following the appointment of Plaza Premium Group (PPG) as the new operator.
The project forms part of the airport’s strategy to enhance the passenger journey by expanding high-quality facilities for domestic travellers. The new lounges will replace the existing facilities in Terminal 1 and will operate around the clock once completed.
Together, the five lounges will provide more than 2,154m² of space and accommodate up to 534 passengers. Plaza Premium Group, which operates airport hospitality facilities at hundreds of airports worldwide, was selected following a competitive tender launched in 2025.
Passenger journey investment continues
Construction will be delivered in two phases. The first phase is already underway following the closure of the first three existing lounges, with the refurbished facilities expected to reopen progressively from the end of 2026. The remaining two lounges will then be redeveloped, with completion scheduled for 2027.
According to Santiago Airport, the new lounges will feature premium facilities and interiors inspired by Chilean culture and identity, providing passengers with an enhanced pre-flight experience.
Nicolas Claude, General Manager of Santiago Airport, said: “The new lounges that PPG will open in our National Terminal align with our focus on experience and hospitality, fundamental aspects for Santiago Airport, and will offer high-quality spaces with a distinctive Chilean identity.”
David Thompson, Senior Vice President for Latin America at Plaza Premium Group, said the company’s arrival in Chile represents a long-term investment in one of Latin America’s most important aviation markets, adding that further expansion opportunities in the country are already being evaluated.
