San Francisco International Airport will introduce interactive fan zones entertainment and live match viewing areas during the FIFA World Cup.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has announced a programme of in-terminal activations and entertainment designed to welcome FIFA World Cup travellers to the San Francisco Bay Area during the tournament period.
The airport’s “Game On” activation will run from 9 June to 7 July and forms part of wider preparations to manage increased international passenger traffic linked to the FIFA World Cup.

Passengers travelling through SFO will be greeted with welcome banners, interactive entertainment and dedicated viewing areas positioned throughout the airport terminals.
The airport will introduce interactive electronic posters allowing passengers to attempt to block shots on goal from a football robot named “Striker”, while holographic displays will feature welcome messages from FIFA Women’s World Cup winner Brandi Chastain and Daniel Lurie.
Additional activations include a football themed photo area located in Terminal 2 featuring oversized footballs and a goal net. The space will also host trivia activities, miniature football giveaways and passenger dribbling challenges on selected days.
SFO stated that travellers will also have access to games including Connect4, Jenga and corn hole within terminal areas.
Large screen viewing stations will broadcast FIFA World Cup matches live across multiple terminal locations, including Terminal 3 and the Dianne Feinstein International Terminal.
The airport said the activations are intended to improve passenger experience and create a welcoming atmosphere for international visitors arriving in the Bay Area during the tournament.
Mike Nakornkhet said the airport is looking forward to welcoming football fans from around the world throughout the competition period.
