Work is under way to transform the southern node of Terminal 2 with a new private terminal and expanded amenities, aimed at redefining Changi’s premium passenger experience from 2027.

This week’s picture of the week comes from Changi Airport Group and Plaza Premium Group who have announced that they will jointly operate a new private terminal.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) has commenced redevelopment works on the former Commercially Important Persons (CIP) terminal site, marking the start of a major project that will introduce an upgraded private terminal and a new travel and lifestyle destination linked to the existing Hub & Spoke precinct.
Located at the southern node of Terminal 2, the development is scheduled to open in mid‑2027 and is intended to enhance Changi Airport’s premium offering, combining personalised travel services with dining, wellness and community spaces.
At the heart of the project is a new private terminal that will replace the existing CIP facility. The terminal will be jointly operated by CAG and Plaza Premium Group (PPG), a global provider of airport hospitality and passenger services.
The partners aim to deliver a fully personalised, end‑to‑end experience for premium travellers, from arrival through to boarding.
Passengers using the private terminal will have access to an exclusive environment designed for rest, privacy and discretion, alongside seamless facilitation through airport processes. Smooth transfers to boarding gates and direct access to Changi’s retail offer are intended to minimise friction while maintaining connectivity with the wider terminal ecosystem.
The private terminal will include a deluxe lounge, bar, private suites and bespoke dining options, with interiors designed to balance sophistication and understated elegance. A flexible, high‑end event space will also form part of the facility, catering for larger entourages, private gatherings and discreet events.
Commenting on the development, Mr Ang Siew Min, Senior Vice President for Airport Operations Development and Airport Operations Services at CAG, said the project responds to evolving passenger expectations. “Some of today’s travellers seek more than just a comfortable place to spend time before their flight. They are after a personalised premium experience. CAG is meeting this demand with an upgraded private terminal that delivers an exceptional experience,” he said.
He added that a curated mix of dining and wellness offerings located close to the terminal would further broaden the range of options available to passengers.Plaza Premium Group highlighted the partnership as an opportunity to set a new benchmark for premium airport services.
Ms Mei Mei Song, PPG’s Chief Transformation Officer, said the company would combine its global hospitality expertise with Changi’s operational strengths to deliver “a consistently elevated end‑to‑end experience” for premium travellers, focused on personalisation, seamless service and bespoke design.
Alongside the private terminal, the project includes a significant expansion of the Hub & Spoke amenities cluster. The enhanced precinct will feature new dining concepts, wellness facilities and pet‑friendly spaces, designed to serve both air passengers and local residents.
A key feature of the expanded Hub & Spoke will be Changi Airport’s first covered amphitheatre and an adjoining open‑air plaza. These spaces are intended to host intimate to mid‑scale events, positioning the area as a venue for community activities and celebrations as well as a destination within the airport environment.
With its proximity to Terminal 2 and the upcoming Hotel Indigo development, the upgraded private terminal and expanded Hub & Spoke are expected to transform the southern node of Terminal 2 into an integrated travel, lifestyle and wellness hub. The project reflects Changi Airport’s broader strategy to diversify its non‑aeronautical offer while continuing to invest in differentiated passenger experiences across its terminals.
