Eindhoven Airport (EIN) has significantly improved working conditions for baggage handlers by purchasing seven additional lifting aids, bringing the total to nine.

These aids are used for loading checked baggage on departing flights and now cover a large part of the baggage hall’s loading areas. The remaining areas will be addressed next, with seven more lifting aids planned for installation in the first quarter of 2026. This timeline allows for necessary adjustments to the baggage system beforehand. Until then, the airport will organise the baggage process to ensure handlers primarily work in areas already equipped with lifting aids.
Improving employee working conditions is a key priority for the airport, with a strong focus on reducing physical strain. Eindhoven Airport previously installed three lifting aids in December 2023 to assist with unloading incoming baggage—one for each belt. An additional unloading belt, part of the expanded terminal opening in summer 2027, will also be equipped with a lifting aid.
“The goal is to make effortless lifting and moving of baggage the norm,” the airport said, highlighting its commitment to long-term ergonomic improvements. Eindhoven Airport continues to collaborate with baggage handlers to explore further optimisations, reinforcing its proactive approach to workplace safety and wellbeing.
