Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is welcoming visitors for the upcoming NFL Draft with an innovative cultural showcase, featuring life size holograms of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra musicians performing throughout the terminal.

Installed in the Airside Center Core, the holographic displays provide around the clock performances designed to create a memorable first impression for the hundreds of thousands of travellers expected to pass through the airport during one of the city’s busiest periods.

The installation has been developed by Pittsburgh based creative agency Joe Zeff Design and reflects a broader effort to highlight Pittsburgh’s transformation into a hub for technology, creativity and innovation. Each hologram presents a lifelike performance, giving the impression that musicians are playing live within the display units.

Three members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra are featured in the installation, including Assistant Concertmaster Dylan Naroff, alongside musicians Doug Rosenthal and Rhian Kenny. The performances aim to connect arriving passengers with the city’s cultural identity while offering a distinctive alternative to traditional airport experiences.

Passengers can interact with the displays by scanning on screen QR codes, allowing them to purchase tickets to attend live performances at Heinz Hall and engage further with the orchestra during their visit.

Melia Tourangeau, President and Chief Executive of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, said the installation blends art and technology to create a unique welcome for travellers while promoting the city’s cultural offering.

The project also highlights how airports are increasingly being used as platforms for immersive experiences that go beyond travel, supporting tourism and local engagement.

As Pittsburgh prepares to host large numbers of visitors for the NFL Draft, the initiative positions Pittsburgh International Airport as a gateway not only to the city, but to its creative and technological ambitions.
