London City Airport (LCY) has announced plans to open its first luxury passenger lounge in early 2027 as part of its wider strategy to enhance the passenger journey and support future growth.

The new facility will be developed in partnership with Aspire Pre-Flight Hospitality, the airport hospitality brand of Swissport International, and will be available to all departing passengers regardless of airline. Access will be offered through advance online booking, walk-in entry and, in the future, an annual membership programme.

The announcement comes as London City Airport approaches its 40th anniversary in 2027 and continues work towards increasing annual passenger capacity to nine million travellers.

Premium passenger experience

Located within the departures lounge, the new lounge will feature a hotel-style reception area designed to provide a seamless transition from the security checkpoint into a premium hospitality environment.

Passengers will have views across London City Airport’s runway while enjoying facilities including a cocktail bar, barista station serving locally roasted coffee and an artisan food and beverage offering inspired by London and international travel.

The lounge will also include dedicated workspaces, extensive seating and private booths, catering for both business travellers and premium leisure passengers.

Andy Cliffe, Chief Executive Officer of London City Airport, said: “The introduction of this exclusive experience is answering a clear demand from passengers and will elevate our unrivalled customer offer and reputation as London’s most loved airport.”

Karen Cox, Chief Executive Officer for the United Kingdom and Ireland at Swissport International, added: “We are incredibly excited about this project and our leading hospitality credentials in this space make Swissport and Aspire the ideal brand to partner with.”

Supporting long-term growth

The announcement follows the completion of a major refurbishment of the airport’s main departures lounge in 2024 and forms part of London City Airport’s long-term investment programme.

Airport officials said additional details, including luxury brand partnerships and the official opening date, will be announced closer to the launch of the new passenger facility.
