The ADS-B Ground System is designed to receive and process ADS-B surveillance data, such as aircraft position, altitude, velocity, identification, etc. obtained from aircraft onboard systems. The purpose is to provide surveillance data for Air Traffic Control purposes.

The ADS-B station is able to provide a reliable real-time location and identification of all aircraft and other objects equipped with an ADS-B functionality. It is a ready-to-use solution, allowing the customer to deploy it independently in a simple “plug and play” manner. The system, supplied by ERA, can be installed, operated and maintained by the customer with only low maintenance required.

The core idea behind this product configuration is to deliver fifth-generation surveillance technology within a shorter time-frame while enabling broader involvement of the customer’s own resources during deployment. This approach not only accelerates implementation but also reduces overall project costs and increases operational flexibility.

The Stand-Alone ADS-B Ground Station represents the latest product derivate of the MSS-5 system. MSS-5 is the fifth generation of the Multi-sensor Surveillance System (MSS) by ERA tailored for Air Traffic Control/Management. The system provides accurate real-time localization, tracking and identification of all objects equipped with transponder: at the airport surface, in TMA and en-route in so-called gate to gate surveillance

MSS-5 is designed for round-the-clock operations based on the Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) multilateration principle. The system also decodes ADS-B messages. MSS-5 provides a cost-effective alternative to conventional SSR for the monitoring of cooperative aircraft targets, and vehicles, both in the air and on the ground. The data is forwarded in the ASTERIX format to the required ATC surveillance applications. The system withstands all weather conditions and is suitable for any terrain profiles.

Main advantages:

  • Fast and easy deployment – plug-and-play solution
  • User-friendly installation and operations
  • Minimal maintenance requirements
  • No need for ERA services during system’s adaptation.
