Zurich Airport (ZRH) has extended its duty free concession agreement with Avolta until 2035, strengthening a long standing commercial partnership at Switzerland’s largest airport.

The existing agreement, originally scheduled to run until 2028, has been renewed seven years early, providing long term planning certainty and enabling continued investment in retail, convenience and food and beverage offerings across the airport.

Avolta currently operates Zurich Duty Free across 17 locations within the airport terminal and has been a key commercial partner for many years. Under the renewed concession, the company will maintain responsibility for duty free retail while also continuing to manage convenience and food and beverage concepts throughout the airport.

Stefan Gross, Chief Commercial Officer at Zurich Airport Ltd., said the agreement supports the continued development of Zurich Airport’s commercial proposition.

“The early renewal of the concession agreements provides planning certainty and enables continued targeted investment in the further development of commercial areas,” Gross said.

The extension will also ensure continuity for passengers during the planned Dock A replacement project, which will involve construction activity affecting parts of the terminal over the coming years.

Alongside its airside retail operations, Avolta will expand its presence at The Circle, the airport’s mixed use business and services district adjacent to the terminal complex. As part of its “Avolta Next” initiative, the company plans to develop and test new retail and service innovations at the location before deploying them across its wider global network.

Luis Marin, President and CEO EMEA at Avolta, said the extension reflects the strength of the long term partnership.

“This extension reflects the strength of our partnership with Zurich Airport and the confidence placed in Avolta’s ability to deliver consistently at scale.”
