As Visit Malaysia 2026 gathers pace, Malaysia Airports is reinforcing airport retail as a strategic driver of visitor experience and tourism revenue across its international network.

Branded as an always on retail experience platform, ShopLAH integrates shopping, dining and cultural storytelling into the passenger journey. The campaign aligns with national tourism objectives by encouraging higher per passenger spend while promoting Malaysian brands at major gateways including Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL).

Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports, said the initiative underlines the operator’s role in shaping visitors’ first and last impressions of the country. He stated that the campaign strengthens the commercial ecosystem through collaboration with concessionaires, local brands and creative partners, while positioning Malaysia as one of the most connected countries in Asia Pacific.

In 2025, Malaysia Airports recorded 104.5 million passenger movements across its network, supporting strong retail growth. Total sales transactions reached approximately 44 million, representing a 28.8 per cent year on year increase.

Growth was driven by an expanded Malaysian brand presence, including Oriental Kopi, Kapten Batik, Serai, Jibby Chow and Little Malaysia. Food and beverage sales increased by 19 per cent, while gifts and souvenirs rose by 42 per cent, making it the fastest growing retail segment. Within confectionery, Malaysian brands now account for 33 per cent of total chocolate sales.

To build on this performance, Malaysia Airports will launch a Tourist Privilege Card through the MYAirports App, offering instant discounts and rewards across participating outlets during Visit Malaysia 2026.

ShopLAH also features limited edition foldable duty free bags created with artists Hsieying, Kideika, Daisy Dalia and Afi Sulaiman, alongside collaborations with Lego, positioning airports as destinations for discovery.
