London Gatwick has launched the UK’s first robotic airport parking service, offering passengers a faster and more convenient parking experience.
London Gatwick Airport (LGW) has become the first airport in the UK to introduce a robotic parking service, offering passengers a fully automated parking experience designed to reduce stress and improve convenience before departure.
Developed in partnership with Stanley Robotics, the new system allows passengers to drive into a dedicated drop-off cabin near the South Terminal, park their vehicle and leave without handing over their keys. Once the driver exits the vehicle, autonomous robots lift the car by its tyres and transport it to a secure parking space.
Passengers simply scan their booking on arrival, leave their vehicle inside the cabin and walk directly to the terminal or use the free shuttle bus. Return flight details are provided during booking so the vehicle is automatically returned to a collection cabin before the passenger arrives back at the airport.
Automated parking enhances the passenger journey
London Gatwick said the new service forms part of its wider strategy to improve the airport experience by reducing the time passengers spend searching for parking spaces while increasing efficiency across airport operations.

Clément Boussard, Chief Executive Officer of Stanley Robotics, said the project represents an important milestone for the company in the UK, adding that the technology will help address future parking capacity requirements as London Gatwick continues to grow.
The robotic parking service is now available to book, with the first passengers expected to use the facility during August.
