Hamad International Airport has launched biometric Fast Pass technology across more than 700 touchpoints as part of its paperless travel strategy.

Hamad International Airport (DOH) rolled out its Fast Pass biometric travel service in July, enabling passengers to use facial recognition across more than 700 airport touchpoints.
The service has been jointly implemented by Hamad International Airport and Qatar Airways, with technology partner SITA, and is designed to reduce document checks throughout the departure journey.
Passengers can register for Fast Pass using self-service check-in kiosks at the airport or through the Qatar Airways mobile app. Once registered, passengers can use dedicated biometric-enabled touchpoints at check-in, bag drop, security and boarding, with their face serving as their boarding credential.
The biometric process takes only seconds and is designed to reduce waiting times and streamline passenger processing, particularly during periods of high demand. Participation remains optional, with conventional processing available for passengers who prefer not to use biometric technology.
The rollout connects more than 700 touchpoints into a single biometric-enabled journey, making it one of the largest deployments of its kind in the Middle East and globally.
The system forms part of Hamad International Airport’s wider Innovation Roadmap and reflects growing demand for biometric travel. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has reported increasing passenger preference for biometric identification instead of physical travel documents.
Hamad International Airport said Fast Pass will continue to expand across additional touchpoints. The airport also plans to work with technology partners to further develop the service and potentially make the capability available to other airlines operating from the airport.
