“It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when”: Talking cybersecurity with Aura Moore

In this exclusive interview, Aura Moore, Chief Innovation Officer of Los Angeles World Airports discusses cyber threat trends, data and business transformation.

According to Aura, distribution of ransomware is still alive and well and a good way for cyber attackers to make money. On cyber attacks, Aura says “it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when so we really must be prepared to minimise disruption to the business when it happens.”

Many AI tools are used, IoT and the use of mobile phones is going to evolve in the future but it will incraese our cyber risk, leveraging cloud services and storage is adding a level of cloud security, so airports must make sure that they are designing for zero trust architecture.

Aura went on to talk about how LAWA is leveraging self-service and automation technologies to enhance the passenger experience, the challenges around hiring the right technology skills for her department – especially cyber experts who according to Aura, “can pretty much name their price”.

Aura also went on to discuss the opportunities ahead and how she sees airports’ IT needs changing in the future
