Sydney Airport has appointed Multiplex to help plan and deliver its T2-T3 terminal redevelopment as part of a $6 billion investment programme.

Sydney Airport (SYD) has appointed global construction company Multiplex to provide construction planning and delivery expertise as work progresses on the Major Development Plan for its T2-T3 terminal project.
The appointment brings Multiplex into the project during the planning phase, allowing the company to work alongside designers and engineers to help develop construction staging for one of Australia’s busiest airport precincts.
The T2-T3 redevelopment is expected to deliver new terminal space and 12 swing gates capable of supporting both domestic and international operations. The project is also designed to improve connectivity between terminals while unlocking additional capacity and creating a smoother passenger experience.
Paul Willis, Group Executive of Planning and Delivery at Sydney Airport, said early collaboration would help the airport determine how the complex project could be delivered safely and efficiently while minimising disruption to passengers, airlines and day-to-day airport operations.
Multiplex Regional Managing Director David Ghannoum said the company would contribute its experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in operational environments, adding that the collaborative planning approach would help establish a clear pathway for future construction phases.
The appointment follows Sydney Airport’s earlier selection of Grimshaw as lead architectural consultant and Mott MacDonald as lead engineering consultant for the redevelopment.
The T2-T3 terminal project forms part of Sydney Airport’s wider $6 billion capital works programme over the next five years, supporting its long-term growth strategy.
The redevelopment aligns with Sydney Airport’s Master Plan 2045, which forecasts annual passenger numbers reaching 72 million by 2045. The additional terminal capacity and flexible gate infrastructure are intended to help accommodate future demand while improving operational efficiency across the airport as it continues expanding Australia’s busiest international gateway.
