Malta International Airport becomes first EU airport to achieve ISO 45003 certification for workforce wellbeing

Malta International Airport (MIA) has become the first EU airport to achieve ISO 45003 certification, recognising its efforts to safeguard both the physical and psychosocial wellbeing of its workforce. ISO 45003 offers guidelines for managing psychological risks in the workplace, making the airport a pioneer among its peers. The airport has also attained ISO 45001 certification, which focuses on health and safety, including mental and emotional support for employees, particularly during major projects.

Peter Cain, Country Manager of Bureau Veritas Malta, praised the management’s commitment to employee wellbeing. With ongoing infrastructure projects, the airport ensures risk assessments, protocols, and continuous staff training.
