Istanbul Airport (IST) has expanded its premium aviation infrastructure with the opening of a new terminal designed to strengthen the airport’s position within the growing global private aviation market.

The new facility, known as the Jetex iGA Terminal, was officially inaugurated during a ceremony attended by senior government officials, aviation executives and industry representatives.

Istanbul Airport’s private terminal strengthens premium aviation ambitions

Airport operator iGA Istanbul Airport said the development forms part of wider plans to position Istanbul Airport as a leading international hub for both commercial and private aviation.

The terminal has been designed to serve private jet passengers alongside selected commercial airline travellers, combining dedicated processing facilities with premium passenger services.

Features include private suites, luxury lounges, dedicated security and passport checkpoints, concierge services and personalised travel support.

Cemal Kalyoncu, Chair of the Board of iGA Istanbul Airport, said the airport continues to expand its aviation infrastructure as passenger demand grows.

He highlighted the airport’s role as a major international gateway serving more than 140 countries and over 340 destinations.

According to the airport, passenger capacity is expected to increase to 120 million, supported by additional infrastructure projects including a fourth runway scheduled to open later this year.

The airport also confirmed ongoing hotel investments as part of broader expansion plans designed to strengthen Istanbul’s role as a global aviation and tourism hub.

While the terminal will enhance premium passenger services, the project also reflects increasing competition among major international airports to attract high value travellers and business aviation traffic.

Jetex, which operates private aviation terminals globally, partnered with the airport on the development.

The terminal’s design incorporates architectural elements inspired by Istanbul’s cultural identity, using natural materials including stone and wood to create a more personalised travel environment.

The project reinforces wider growth in private aviation demand across the Middle East and Europe, as airports continue investing in premium infrastructure, passenger experience and operational diversification.

For Istanbul Airport, the terminal represents another step in its long term strategy to strengthen international connectivity and expand its position as one of the world’s leading aviation hubs.
