Hong Kong Airport and Qatar Airways Cargo have signed a new agreement to expand cargo connectivity, strengthen operations and support future growth.

Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Qatar Airways Cargo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cargo connectivity, expand international operations and deepen cooperation across aviation development.
The agreement reinforces the cargo carrier’s growing presence at Hong Kong International Airport, where it currently operates around 56 weekly flights using both freighter aircraft and belly-hold capacity across its global network. As part of the expanded partnership, Qatar Airways Cargo has also relocated its regional office to Hong Kong.
Under the MoU, the airline intends to increase flight frequencies and develop new routes through Hong Kong, further strengthening the airport’s position as one of the world’s leading air cargo hubs.
The agreement was signed by Chapman Fong, Director of Hub Development at Airport Authority Hong Kong, and Eric Wilson, Senior Vice President Cargo Sales at Qatar Airways Cargo, in the presence of senior government and aviation representatives from Hong Kong and Qatar.
The partnership will focus on expanding connectivity across Qatar Airways Cargo’s worldwide network while exploring collaboration in operational excellence, service enhancements, sustainability and workforce development through the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy.
Mable Chan, Hong Kong’s Secretary for Transport and Logistics, said the airline’s decision to establish its regional office in Hong Kong reflected confidence in the city’s position as an international aviation hub.
Vivian Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong, welcomed the airline’s plans to expand its business presence through additional flights and new routes, saying the authority would continue working with airlines to strengthen the airport’s competitiveness.
The agreement comes as more airlines expand their presence at Hong Kong International Airport, creating new opportunities for the wider cargo community to benefit from growing regional demand and enhanced international connectivity.
