Maria Angelica Avila

Maria Angelica Avila is the Manager Security Compliance and Audit at Hamad International Airport (HIA) where she has worked for the last 4 years. She has 22 years of experience in Aviation Security. She started her carrier in Buenos Aires Argentina as a security agent, profiling passengers who travelled from Argentina to the United States. She then moved to Continental Airlines as Corporate Security Manager where she became an AVSEC Inspector and Instructor; she audited operations in China, Brazil, Spain, Venezuela, Ecuador and England. Before joining HIA, based in the Caribbean as Country Manager for a contractor, she started security operations in Trinidad & Tobago and Curacao. Some of her career achievements include the training of multiple groups of security staff and airline employees in Passenger Profiling, Cargo Security, Cabin and hold baggage screening across Latin America. She created and implemented programs to develop airport security teams from the ground up in Venezuela, Argentina, Trinidad & Tobago and Curacao; and developed a multinational team of AVSEC National Inspectors in HIA. She is accredited AVSEC Inspector and Instructor by Qatar Civil Aviation Authority.
