Interactive session: Dynamic and resilient planning for airport operations and operators

Date: 5 December 2018
Time: 12:20

Airport operation decision-makers face challenging dynamic multi-objective optimisation problems (DMOPs), which involve objectives such as maximising efficiency whilst minimising cost. DMOPs are challenging for optimisation methods and decision-makers and understudied in real-life, therefore we end up using static optimisation strategies and become reactive rather than proactive. Although challenging, addressing DMOPs is important due to its huge economic, social and environmental impact in our industry. This session aims to raise awareness of the latest studies in addressing DMOPs in real-world situations. It will discuss and recommend how airports, operators and stakeholders can support these developments and make the most of possible solutions from the early stages of development; as well as present how small in-house initiatives can take steps towards addressing these challenges.
