How can airports benefit from disruptive technologies?

Date: 5 December 2018
Time: 09:15

This session will focus on VTOLs and their impact on the airport of the future. VTOLs are on the horizon and are aimed at ultra-short-haul flights within and across congested cities. Some of the proposed concepts (including Uber Elevate) envisage using existing infrastructure (rooftops for example), which is possible as VTOLs don’t need landing strips due to their vertical take-off and landing capabilities. This development has the potential to be extended to short-haul and even long-haul flights, causing disruption to the current airline and airport models as we know them, just like Uber disrupted the traditional taxi models.
