United Airlines launches immersive airport experiences for Make-A-Wish families, offering behind-the-scenes access to aviation operations across seven major US hubs.

United Airlines has launched its “Make More Wishes” initiative in partnership with Make-A-Wish America, delivering immersive aviation experiences for children with critical illnesses and their families across its US hub airports.
United Make More Wishes programme across US airports
The programme will take place at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Denver International Airport (DEN), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), culminating in Chicago on 11 November 2026.
At each location, families will gain behind the scenes access to airline operations, including flight simulator sessions, inflight training experiences with cabin crew, visits to ramps and Station Operations Centers, and opportunities to meet pilots and aviation professionals.
The initiative builds on more than 40 years of collaboration between United Airlines and Make-A-Wish, with over 75 percent of wishes involving travel. The programme expands support beyond flights by creating memorable, hands on experiences within airport environments.
Kate Gebo said: “For 40 years, United has helped make thousands of wishes possible, building a legacy rooted in compassion, connection and impact.”
Leslie Motter added: “When a child with a critical illness travels for their wish, it can be a powerful moment for the entire family, often the first time they’ve felt hope in months.”
In addition to flights, United employees support families through volunteering, assisting with travel journeys, organising personalised send offs and providing comfort items.
The Make More Wishes programme highlights how airports and airlines can deliver meaningful social impact, combining operational access with experiences that inspire hope and connection for families across the United States.
