Seattle-Tacoma International Airport introduces mobile charging kiosks

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has introduced FuelRod’s charge on-the-go SwapBox kiosks, a mobile-charging service for smartphones and tablets.

Passengers, crew and airport staff are now able to charge their electronics whilst moving around the airport by utilising the mobile-charging kits, including connectors, on offer at the new kiosks that have been introduced at the airport.

Senior Manager of Airport Dining and Retail at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Dawn Hunter, said: “As more and more passengers rely on their phones and other mobile devices, the FuelRod option offers the flexibility to easily charge while moving between gates or enjoying our airport’s many amenities.”

Four locations throughout Seattle-Tacoma International Airport currently host the kiosks – Gates A1-A2, C16, D1 and Baggage Claim 9 – with more expected to be introduced by the airport in the coming months. Users who already have a FuelRod charger can use the kiosks at the airport to swap for a freshly charged unit.

In 2019, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport became the first U.S. airport to launch a new accessibility programme to include passengers with hidden disabilities, and improve services for passengers with reduced mobility (PRMs). The pilot programme aimed to limit how stressful the journey is for all travellers and meet the needs of guests whose disabilities are not immediately evident.
