New Doha International Airport, currently under construction in Doha, State of Qatar, is one of a number of airport projects in development along the energy-rich Arabian Peninsula. Upon completion, the new airport will become an important centrepiece in the infrastructural development of Qatar’s capital city of Doha, with an aim for the airport to become a global transportation hub linking East and West. The new airport will be managed by Qatar Airways, one of the fastest-growing airlines in the world. Since its re-launch in 1997, Qatar Airways has rapidly expanded, from operating four leased aircraft a little over 10 years ago, to now owning 84 modern Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The airline currently has over 200 new aircraft on order including; 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787 ‘Dreamliners’, 32 Boeing 777s and five Airbus A380 ‘Superjumbos.’
