The Micro Nav BEST 2D Tower Simulator at NATS Manchester Airport has passed site acceptance and is ready to enter service.

The main UK air navigation service provider NATS contracted Micro Nav to install a 2D tower simulator at Manchester Airport. The simulator is based on the off the shelf version of the BEST tower simulator and includes 2 controller and 2 pseudo-pilot positions. The simulator incorporates an operational Electronic Flight Strip system. Following installation Micro Nav conducted 2 weeks of user training and NATS will commence operation of the simulator next month.

Manchester Airport joins the growing number of NATS airport units that have a BEST simulator installed, including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London Gatwick and London Heathrow.

Richard Bonner, Programme Manager at NATS commented: “Micro Nav was able to deliver the simulator in a tight turnaround from ordering. We are very happy with both the support provided and the integrated solution and look forward to reaping the benefits over the next few months as we embark on an extensive training programme to convert our staff to electronic flight strip operations.”
