In May 2011, Slovenia Control launched a call for Tenders procedure to procure a new fall-back Air Situation Display as the previous solution was becoming obsolete and needed to be replaced to equip their future Control Center in 2012.

Albatross Display Professional Edition will be used in operations but also for training, test and evaluation purposes.

“We are extremely happy with this contract as it is a demonstration that Open Source solutions are the way ahead in ATC” says Nicolas Dalleinne who is heading the Albatross initiative at SkySoft-ATM since 2009. “Open Source applications have been adopted by multiple business sectors where reliability and safety are essential. I’m convinced this contract is the first of a long series of implementation of Open Source solutions in ATC”

Marko Hrastovec, who is heading the project for Slovenia Control is also keen on Open Source. “We have selected Albatross as due to the availability of the source code and of the solution on line, we could check that this application could be really fit for our purpose. We will be able to have a direct influence on the adaptation of the product to our needs for present and future needs”.

Albatross Display Professional Edition is delivered with a full set of ESARR 6 SWAL 4 compliant documentation and is supported by the professional services of SkySoft-ATM.
