ARINC Incorporated today announced it has begun a fast-track installation of its versatile AviNet AirportTM IP network service at 19 major airports for British Airways…

The deployment in eleven countries is expected to be complete in April. ARINC’s work supports British Airways’ current migration of its legacy passenger reconciliation system (PRS) onto a modern IP-based network platform.

A long-time ARINC customer, British Airways employs ARINC’s MUSE® common-use passenger technology at all 19 airports, including Terminal 3 at British Airways’ hub location of London Heathrow. The carrier also makes use of CUSS kiosk technology supported by ARINC at many of the airports.

ARINC will provide a fully-integrated solution for British Airways at each location, including deployment of the carrier’s new application on the existing MUSE platforms and the provisioning of a new fully-managed end-to-end IP AviNet Airport service at each location. ARINC will also integrate its reliable new IP-based delivery method for Baggage Source Messages (BSMs) at each of the airports where ARINC BagLinkTM technology is installed.

ARINC is providing the fully-integrated solution to British Airways as a single “AviNet Airport” service, allowing the carrier to delegate the management of most deployment elements to ARINC.

“Integrating the MUSE deployment with Network Access as a single AviNet solution is well suited to our specific requirements,” stated Nick Teale, British Airways’ Worldwide Data Networks manager. “ARINC are delivering an implementation approach which meets our need to deliver end to end IP in a timely way to meet our business needs.”

“ARINC takes a consultative approach with customers, and we find ways to be flexible in structuring solutions that meet their commercial needs,” said Tony Chapman, Senior Director, Integrated Travel Solutions, ARINC EMEA. “We are delighted to undertake this significant deployment for BA which again highlights our partnership philosophy.”

AviNet Airport enables legacy and IP applications to share the same physical connection, bridging airline host systems and airport services. It is flexible and cost-effective, and can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of any airline.

ARINC is dedicated to providing airports, airlines and handling companies with solutions that integrate airport passenger check-in, boarding, baggage handling, and security to enhance operations and passenger processing throughout the airport.

ARINC Incorporated, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, provides communications, engineering and integration solutions for commercial, defense and government customers worldwide.
