A record-breaking total of 4,024,492 passengers were recorded at Denver International Airport (DIA) in November, a significant eight percent increase from the 3,727,828 travelers who used the airport during the same month last year, marking the busiest November in the airport’s history. Consistent growth in 2010 has brought the year-to-date passenger traffic for November 2010 to 48,001,231, an increase of 1,831,168 passengers, or four percent, over the same eleven-month period in 2009. November joins January, August, September and October of this year as being the busiest months in airport history.

Passenger traffic for November 2010 surpassed the reported figures for the same month of 2008, a benchmark year for DIA and the first time the airport saw 50 million travelers come through the facility. The 2010 numbers represent a 9.4 percent increase, or 345,206 more travelers, over the 3,679,286 passengers reported for November 2008. Looking at the first 11 months of 2008 versus the first 11 months of 2010, passenger traffic has increased by 1.8 percent of those record numbers.

“November is the fifth record-breaking month we experienced at DIA in 2010,” Aviation Manager Kim Day said. “Based upon these results, there is no question that we are on track for a record-breaking year overall.”

November also brought a 6.4 percent increase in flight operations, which rose from 47,784 in 2009, to 50,841 in 2010. Cargo saw an increase of 9.2 percent with 45,286,397 pounds of total cargo handled in November 2010, compared to 41,470,001 pounds during the same month last year.
