The second biggest airline partner of the airport moves from an office building in Vecsés to Ferihegy, where it will occupy a separate, two-storey building. Earlier, the facility has been leased by Eurocontrol, an international organization of the European Union specializing in air traffic control. Following the necessary reconstructions, Budapest Airport will provide two dozens of offices in the 2000-square-meter building as well as 60 separate parking spaces for the airline.

According to the agreement, the present tenant moves out of the building by 1st January 2011. So reconstruction works enabling the satisfaction of special needs may already be started in the winter. During these works, Budapest Airport shall reconstruct several smaller offices to create spacious offices accommodating more workstations. According to the contract, Wizz Air may overtake the building in May, most of which will be occupied by the airline’s operational unit, but there will also be room for other employees of the company responsible for the financial, commercial, IT and the corporate affairs. Parallel to their Budapest office, the other center of Wizz Air shall carry on operation in Geneva.

Budapest Airport welcomes the decision of Wizz Air, which is an unequivocal proof of the excellent partnership and successful cooperation between the airline and the airport operator. Wizz Air, which has been operating flights to and from Budapest ever since its foundation in 2004, has undergone a dynamic development and has become one of the most significant stakeholders in the Hungarian aviation market in recent years. The airline has four aircraft stationed at Budapest Airport, where from it operates 14 flights a day. The characteristic pink-purple airplanes fly passengers from the Hungarian capital to 23 destinations and the number of their passengers is estimated to exceed 1 million this year.

“We are proud that one of the most successful airlines of Europe chose Budapest Airport as its headquarters. We shall carry on trying to live up to this trust and provide a service quality which will result in a long-term and successful cooperation for both parties”, said René Droese, Director of Property Management of Budapest Airport.
