Elsewhere, Singapore Changi Airport successfully defended its title as the world’s best airport, followed by Incheon Airport in Seoul, South Korea.

Commenting on the airport’s award wins, Dr. Michael Kerkloh, President and CEO of FMG, the airport’s operating company, said: “Ranking among the very best and being rated as one of the world’s top three airports is an enormous honour for Munich Airport that we greatly appreciate.”

Munich was singled out for its friendliness and competence of airport staff, the amenities and the pleasant atmosphere. Its Terminal 2 facility and VIP Wing also received a special mention.

On accepting the award, Mr Kerkloh said: It is simply wonderful that our passengers have given us these excellent scores. First and foremost, the award recognises the outstanding work of the entire airport family who are committed every day to ensuring that passengers have a very pleasant experience at Munich Airport. We are proud of our airport and the staff here whose hard work ensures that our airport is so greatly admired around the world.”
