Kolkata Airport New Terminal gets another award for excellence

New Integrated Terminal Building, NSCBI Airport, Kolkata has been conferred with award by Indian Building Congress (IBC) for “Excellence in Built Environment 2013”, and IBC trophy for the project of construction of New Integrated Terminal Building in a function held at Mavlankar Hall in, New Delhi on 7th February, 2014. Dr. (Kumari) Girija Vyas, Hon’ble Minister of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, Govt. of India, presented the award to Dr. B.P. Sharma, Airport Director in the august presence of Dr. Sudhir Krishna, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India and other eminent personalities from the PSUs and Corporate World.

The New Integrated Terminal Building has been widely appreciated for its creative architecture, cultural-in-build aesthetic, built environment and passengers’ friendly State-of-art Terminal Building in Eastern India. The function was organized by “Indian Building Congress” under the aegis of Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India. The objectives of the IBC is to promote excellence in the field of Built Environment and the idea behind the IBC award is to bring to light such efforts while recognizing the drive, imagination and creative thinking of individuals, groups and organization with particular emphasis on creative designs for buildings in different parts of the country.

It is worth mentioning here that AAI earned accolades when Hon’ble President of India praised the New Terminal during inaugural function on 20th January, 2013 and said that – “The New Kolkata Airport Terminal is an Example of how the Public Sector can also create World Class facility”.
