Air Canada rouge begins service at Orlando International Airport

Shortly before noon today, Air Canada rouge officially began service at Orlando International Airport. The new leisure service from Air Canada was met with a traditional water salute from the Airport Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF) before taxing to the gate.

“Orlando is currently the number one destination for Canadian visitors and remains our overall number one source of international guests,” says Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “Anytime one of our airlines grows, it benefits not only the airport, but the entire Central Florida community.”

Air Canada rouge will eventually provide service to Orlando with six flights per day, seven-days-perweek to Toronto, utilizing a retrofitted A-319 aircraft, which is configured to seat 136 passengers. Air Canada rouge is a component of Air Canada Leisure Group, along with Air Canada Vacations.

Orlando International Airport had a record 3.9 million international passengers in fiscal year 2013 with direct service to 35 international destinations.
