G4S, the world’s leading international security solutions group, has today announced the signing of a new three-year contract with Dubai Airports

The contract, which could be extended by a further two years, will see G4S provide its existing operations as well as a range of additional services to the second busiest airport in the world for international passenger traffic.

Employing almost 1,000 people, G4S staff will continue to support Dubai Airports’ unique ‘May I Help You?’ (MIHY) programme, along with other key functions such as initial boarding pass checks, security screening and a new lost & found service.

The service also supports the movement of passengers around the various terminals both landside and airside, ensuring people are directed to the correct areas of the airport to support the airport experience and on time departures.

The new contract also means G4S will be providing services at Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International when it opens its passenger terminal building in October 2013.

David Stockton, G4S director of Global Aviation Solutions, said: “We are extremely pleased to further develop our partnership with Dubai Airports. This contract highlights our extensive understanding of the dynamics of a large aviation operation and demonstrates how our focus on customer service enables us to create a better airport experience for all.”

Grant Blackwood, G4S’ operations manager at Dubai Airport added: “We are pleased to be able to work closely with Dubai Airports to support initiatives that improve the standard of service for the airport’s customers.”

Majed Al Joker, vice president of terminal operations at Dubai Airports, said: ”We are glad that G4S will continue to play an important role in helping us deliver the high levels of services our customer have come to expect.”

Additional information

Dubai Airports’ new ‘Lost & Found’ initiative – the first of its kind in the Middle-East is an efficient identification and storage service for all items found across the airport. This allows passengers to have a central point to seek their lost items and for airport operations to forward any found items to processed.

Over 57 million people passed through Dubai International in 2012, making it one of the world’s busiest airports.

Dubai Airports launched the MIHY programme in 2008 with the objective of ensuring that every passenger moves through the airport efficiently and quickly by being on-hand to swiftly respond to their needs and by reducing queues. G4S won the contract to deliver the MIHY service on behalf of Dubai Airports in April 2011.

Such initiatives have contributed to DXB being named the best airport in the region for two years running in 2010 and 2011 by the Airport Quality Service Awards and last November it was named ‘Airport of the Year’ at the Aviation Business Awards.
