Passenger traffic through Avinor’s airports increased by 3.7 per cent in the first half of the year…

Passenger traffic through Avinor’s airports increased by 3.7 per cent in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year. In June alone, the increase was 8.4 per cent.

International traffic increased by 12.6 per cent in June compared with the same month last year, while domestic traffic increased by 5.8 per cent. So far this year, international traffic has increased by 8.2 per cent, while domestic traffic has risen by 1.2 per cent. A total of 4,597,152 passengers travelled through Avinor’s airports in June, with a total of 23,292,136 passengers in the first half of the year.

“Growth at Avinor’s airports demonstrates not only the importance of the investments we have made in the last few years to increase capacity, but also that this rate of investment must continue in the years to come. It is also satisfying to see that measures aimed at passengers — such as an increase in the number of lanes at security control — have been implemented at several of Avinor’s largest airports in the last year. New security control lanes at Oslo, Stavanger, Trondheim and Bodø airports contribute to fewer queues and more efficient journeys. Many passengers will be pleased about this during the summer,” explains CEO, Dag Falk-Petersen

He also points out that Avinor plans to invest NOK 37 billion in the National Transport Plan in the period up to 2023. The expansion of Oslo and Bergen airports represents the two single largest projects during the plan period.

At Avinor’s largest airports, Oslo Airport reported a 7 per cent growth in traffic in June, in addition to growth of 11.8 per cent at Bergen Airport Flesland, 8.7 per cent at Stavanger Airport Sola, and 8 per cent at Trondheim Airport Værnes.

At the country’s national airports, Ålesund Airport Vigra saw the greatest increase in traffic in June at 14.7 per cent.

Of the country’s regional airports, Svalbard Airport Longyear saw the greatest increase in traffic in June, at 38.2 per cent.

Average growth at local airports in June was 13.4 per cent.

Aircraft movements in June increased by 2.9 per cent compared with the same month last year.
