Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Europe-based airport systems group is participating in the Airport IT&T Conference, Munich, where it will demonstrate its Airport Realtime Collaboration (ARC) suite capabilities.

Airport Realtime Collaboration (ARC) Airport ImageThe conference, organised by International Airport Review, takes place Oct. 10-11 at the Municon Conference Centre, Munich and aims to assist airports in reducing operational costs whilst increasing operational efficiency.

ARC technical expert Dr. Mario Gongora, associate director of the Centre for Computational Intelligence at De Montfort University, will speak as part of a keynote discussion panel on ‘The Airport of the Future.” He will also be available at the Northrop Grumman exhibit to discuss the ARC capability.

The Passenger Flow module of Northrop Grumman’s ARC capability utilises the expertise in intelligent algorithms developed by Dr. Gongora for the analysis, simulation and forecasting of complex systems and behaviours.

ARC is a portfolio of software solutions and services that supports collaboration across the airport’s operations, and is designed to provide the airport community with more accurate and timely information for enhanced decision making.

“The Passenger Flow module of ARC offers airports a simple way to use existing data sources in a smarter way, giving more accurate forecasting and higher predictability, ranging from long-term planning to real-time warning of an expected surge of people at security” said Charles Houseago, managing director of Northrop Grumman’s airport systems group. “We are delighted that Dr. Gongora has taken the time to be here at Airport IT&T and to help us to promote our ARC capability.”

The ARC Passenger Flow module gives airport operators and security partners far better accuracy in their long and medium term planning and also early warning of unexpected changes in passenger flow rates. This allows them to optimise security search resourcing and so minimise queuing times. The system uses advanced artificial intelligence software, drawing on flight schedule data along with historical passenger movements to predict numbers, flows and queue times at key pinch-points.

In addition to Passenger Flow, the ARC portfolio includes a full suite of software supporting collaborative decision making and an analytics module providing one-touch reporting on key performance metrics across the airport operation.

Northrop Grumman’s airport systems group based in Peterborough, U.K., provides the global airport market with products and services to aid efficiency.
